21 Day Relationship Challenge – Day 21

Boot Camp Perfect

Congratulations! You’ve come to the final day of the 21 Day Relationship Challenge. I hope you’ve found this Challenge to be useful—and also fun.

Today’s resolution suggests “Boot Camp Perfect.” Which means that one week, you try to follow each and every resolution faithfully. Even if you fail (and I’ve never had one perfect day, myself), it’s a helpful exercise. Difficult, but helpful.

The Challenge is over now, but ancient philosophers and contemporary scientists agree: strong relationships are a key to a happy life. So any steps that you take to deepen your bonds with other people are very likely to make you happier.

Good luck!  Onward!

21 Day Relationship Challenge – Day 20

Do Someone Else’s Task

Today’s resolution suggests that you “Do someone else’s task.” Once in a while, just as a treat, it’s nice to take care of a chore that’s usually someone else’s problem. It’s a gesture that builds good will, and a good reminder of what tasks others do.

If you tried this resolution, did it come naturally, or did it feel forced?

Did it make a difference to your happiness?

We can all learn from each other, so please post your experiences with the resolution in the comments section below.

21 Day Relationship Challenge – Day 19

Beware of Unconscious Overclaiming

Today’s resolution suggests that you “Beware of unconscious overclaiming.” It’s so easy to focus on everything we do, and overlook contributions made by other people. And that leads to anger and resentment—which aren’t good for relationships. Being aware of this tendency helps us to feel grateful to others.

Did you identify any examples of your own unconscious overclaiming?

Did being more aware of this tendency make a difference to your happiness?

We can all learn from each other, so please post your experiences with the resolution in the comments section below.

21 Day Relationship Challenge – Day 18

Embrace Good Smells

Today’s resolution suggests that you “Embrace good smells.” I’ve become obsessed with the sense f smell, generally—and especially the fragrances that I associate with the people I love. My husband’s shampoo, my daughter’s favorite perfume, the smell of my parents’ kitchen.

Do you associate the people you love with particular smells?

Does paying more attention to this physical sense make a difference to your happiness?

We can all learn from each other, so please post your experiences with the resolution in the comments section below.

21 Day Relationship Challenge – Day 17

Jump

Today’s resolution suggests that you “Jump.” Sounds goofy, right? Well, it is a little goofy. But when you find yourself dragging and need to get a quick fix of energy and cheer—say, before going out to dinner with your sweetheart—just jump up and down a few times. Or do jumping jacks, run down the stairs, or do anything that gets both feet off the floor.

Try it right now! Do you feel happier? Or at least…different?

We can all learn from each other, so please post your experiences with the resolution in the comments section below.
